Anima is an audiophile restaurant and hotel bar at Locke at East Side Gallery in Berlin. Its founders, Thibaut Machet and Robin Ordell, are respected DJs known for the quality of their selections. At Anima, their standards show everywhere: in the interior, the wine list, the kitchen and the custom-made hi-fi system.
In 2025, we curated the music for several evenings there. Music for dinner needs particular care. We matched our selection to the Mediterranean tapas menu and followed the evening as it unfolded, from a warm welcome on arrival until after the digestif, when conversation takes over at the bar.
Anima’s crowd is mixed and features hotel guests who want to feel at home, walk-ins drawn by the river view, and people from Berlin’s music scene alike. The music has to work for all of them, meeting the venue’s high standards without asking too much of anyone.
