Lago do Mato was a nine-part event series at Strandbad Plötzensee in Berlin that ran for four years. Through high-profile DJ bookings from the electronic music scene, we brought a young, music-loving Berlin crowd to a lakeside lido that until then had drawn mostly swimmers and families.
Starting in 2020, we brought a new scale of electronic music events to Strandbad Plötzensee, with some editions selling more than 1,000 tickets. Our bookings drew a young Berlin crowd alongside fans of internationally sought-after underground artists, introducing the established lido to a wider music community. The lakeside setting continued an idea running through O MATO’s work: bringing music and nature together.
To complement the parties, we created a pop-up vinyl market hosted by local record dealers. Vinyl is part of O MATO’s identity, from our DJ selections to our own record label. The market gave guests a chance to meet artists away from the booth, browse records together and talk about the music they love.
We handled the project from bookings and graphic design to promotion, ticketing, entry management and technical production. The aim was to make room for connection through electronic music, with artists, guests and sellers meeting as equals.
